My crew ignores asset scans what finally got yours to comply?

We started using an asset management software platform last year and the dashboard looks perfect when scans are done, but my field guys still skip tagging tools half the time. A five-second shortcut turns into a missing pump and hours of searching. I’ve tried rewards, simplified the mobile app, even a penalty threat nothing sticks long-term. Has anyone genuinely cracked this? What actually shifted the habit: a specific hardware change, a workflow rule, or something else I’m completely missing? I’m out of ideas and need practical advice.

I wrestled with the exact same thing until I tied scans to something the crew already cared about tool availability for their own jobs. Switching our asset management software so a missed scan meant they couldn't reserve gear the next morning flipped a switch. Suddenly compliance wasn't a chore for management, it was how they guaranteed their own kit.
