Problems with recovery after 35

After 35, my strength has declined, recovery between workouts is terrible, my muscles ache for 4-5 days, even though I sleep 8 hours and eat normally. I want something light to improve recovery and a small gain without strong PCT. What would you recommend from oral supplements so as not to hit the liver too hard?
