Securing cargo for shipping – need some advice
By: winstonoakshott on Sep 07, 2026 01:30 AM EST
I've been handling logistics for a small trading company here in Sharjah for about three years now, and one thing that constantly keeps me up at night is making sure our shipments arrive at their destination without any damage from shifting during transit. We've had a few incidents where pallets tipped over inside containers despite us using straps and wooden bracing, and it's costing us a fortune in claims and unhappy customers. I've been researching better ways to secure our cargo and came across these inflatable solutions that seem to fill the gaps perfectly and absorb shock better than the wooden blocks we've been using. I noticed a supplier that offers a plastic dunnage bag which looks like it could be exactly what we need for our container shipments, but I'm not entirely sure about the sizing or how to properly install them without over-inflating. Has anyone here switched from traditional bracing to these air bags, and did you find they actually reduced damage during shipping? Also, any tips on training the warehouse team to use them correctly would be really helpful because I don't want to invest in something that ends up being misused.
