Should I get my lungs checked if nothing hurts?

By: Helen on Jul 14, 2026 05:19 AM EST

I always thought I only needed to see a doctor if I was feeling really bad. But then I came across a story about someone who simply had a hoarse voice and a slight cough, only to have lung cancer diagnosed during a checkup. It turns out this thing can disguise itself as a common cold. It's starting to feel a bit uneasy.

I periodically get short of breath when I climb stairs quickly, even though I don't smoke. How do I know when it's just fatigue and when it's time to run to the doctor and get some x-rays?
