Should I repair my top-loading washing machine, or should I start looking for a new one?

My top-loading washing machine has started acting up - sometimes it doesn’t spin the laundry, and other times it freezes right in the middle of the wash cycle. I found some information about top-load washer repair, but I’m not sure how effective that usually is in cases like this. Has anyone else had a similar problem? What turned out to be the issue, and how much did the repair cost?

I had a similar experience with a top-loading washing machine. At first, I also thought the problem was serious and that I’d have to replace the machine, but it turned out that these kinds of malfunctions are actually quite common. Before calling a repair technician, I read up on top-load washer repair here https://applianceforever.ca/washing-machine-repairs/ and at least got a sense of the possible causes and what to expect during the diagnosis

Thanks, I'll take a look. Before it broke down, was your washing machine making more noise than usual, or did the problem come on completely out of the blue? And how old is your washing machine? I'm just curious if this has anything to do with its age
