Sump Pump Installation – DIY or Pro?
By: QuillMaster on Mar 18, 2026 09:24 AM EST
Alright, I’m usually a "do it yourself" kind of guy, but looking at my damp basement foundation is making me second-guess my skills. I was watching some YouTube videos on how to install a sump pump, and honestly, cutting into the concrete floor looks like a recipe for disaster if I mess it up. I don't want to accidentally hit a main line or something. Is it worth the extra cash to just hire a pro to do the install? And if so, who is the best in Kingston for this kind of "heavy" plumbing work? I want it done right the first time so I don't have to keep waking up at 3 AM to check the water level.

Trust me on this one: do NOT DIY a sump pump unless you really know what you're doing with a jackhammer and local permits. I’ve seen so many DIY fails that ended up costing triple to fix. I had https://superdrainkingston.ca/ install mine a few months back and it was worth every penny. They have the proper gear to cut the basin perfectly and they ensure the discharge line is actually up to code. It took them half a day, whereas it would have taken me three weekends and a lot of swearing. They were super chill to deal with and the peace of mind knowing it won't fail during a storm is priceless. Just let the pros handle the concrete work.

You’ve convinced me, I’m putting the DIY dreams aside and calling the experts!
