Tips for Using Aluminum Chloride

By: Sidney on Oct 03, 2025 11:46 AM EST

Hello everyone! I'm just starting my journey with treating underarm hyperhidrosis after living with it for over ten years. My primary care physician prescribed a 20% aluminum chloride solution, but didn't include any instructions in the prescription, didn't explain it in person, and just went on vacation. I called my primary care physician's office, but the nurses and other doctors were clueless and advised me to go to a pharmacy where they prepared it for me. I called them back, and they seemed clueless too, but ultimately advised me to use a cotton pad or buy a spray bottle.

You can use either a cotton pad or a spray bottle. The key is to ensure the product covers your underarms evenly and doesn't spill onto other areas of skin. It's best to start every day or two, gradually increasing the frequency to nightly use to reduce the risk of irritation.

Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin, preferably at night, and in the morning. Both a cotton pad or spray bottle are suitable for application, but be careful not to overdo it. If you prefer a more convenient form or a reliable source of the product, consider poly aluminium chloride. It's more often used in high concentrations for various purposes, but when properly diluted, it can also be used for medical solutions. Just follow the instructions for weakening and wear gloves to avoid skin irritation.
