What Do You Enjoy Most About Being a Travel Nurse?

By: Astrid Johansson on Sep 11, 2026 04:14 AM EST
I've been thinking about trying travel nursing for a while, but I'd like to hear from people who actually do it. What do you enjoy most about this kind of work? Is it the chance to travel, better pay, meeting new people, having more flexibility, or something else? I'm especially curious about what keeps you choosing travel contracts instead of settling into a permanent position.

For me, it's definitely the variety and freedom. I like knowing that I'm not tied to the same hospital or city for years. Every assignment brings a different team, new routines, and a chance to explore somewhere I probably wouldn't have visited otherwise. The breaks between contracts are also a big plus because I can actually plan longer trips or spend time with family. If you're considering getting started, tlc nursing agency is worth checking out. They have travel opportunities in different locations and can help with the practical side of finding an assignment.

The flexibility is probably my favorite part too. I like being able to choose where I want to go next and take some time off between assignments when I need it. There are definitely stressful parts, especially adapting to a new hospital, but overall the change of scenery keeps the work interesting.
