Which airline is the best for flying to Amsterdam Airport?
By: Harret on Jul 13, 2026 02:29 AM EST
I'm planning a vacation in Amsterdam and looking for tickets, but I can't decide between the airlines-there are options with KLM, Ryanair, and EasyJet, and the prices vary significantly. Has anyone flown to Schiphol with different airlines and can compare their actual experiences rather than just the prices?
I’m interested in more than just the ticket price; I also want to know how reliable low-cost airlines are on this route and how often they experience delays. I’ve heard that Ryanair sometimes flies to Eindhoven or Charleroi instead of Schiphol. Technically, these airports are also called Amsterdam airports, but they are actually in completely different cities. How can I avoid this and buy a ticket specifically to Schiphol? Also, is there a difference in comfort between KLM and low-cost carriers on short flights? Are two-hour flights the same regardless of the airline?

I’ve flown to Amsterdam with both KLM and Ryanair, and there are differences-but not necessarily where you’d expect. For example, KLM is more reliable when it comes to schedules, and baggage is included in the fare. This often evens out the price difference with low-cost carriers when you calculate the final cost. I highly recommend reading the Amsterdam Airport guide-it has a lot of information about the airlines, and you can even book a ticket there. As for the airport trap, it's a real problem. Ryanair often uses Eindhoven, which is almost two hours from the center of Amsterdam. I always check the airport code. Schiphol's code is AMS, and only AMS. For short flights of up to two hours, the difference in comfort between KLM and a low-cost carrier is minimal because you're sitting in the same type of seat either way. Which city are you flying from?
