The Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program has been plagued with issues for many years.
The most recent one is a backlash against a settlement that gave a spot in the program to 70 litigants who took action after this years’ application process.
Although many people had thought the previous years’ lottery-style selection process was unfair, the new first-come, first-served process, introduced this year, also has problems.
The form opened at noon ET but was only open for nine minutes before the application cap was reached, meaning individuals who were slow at typing or with slow internet connections were at a disadvantage.
