The Canadian government has recognized the Venezuelan National Assembly’s decree on the validity of expired passports on June 7, 2019.
Soon to expire Venezuelan passports or those that expired less than five years ago can now be used to apply for visitor visas, study or work permits, permanent residence, or stay extensions in Canada.
By recognizing the extension, the government aims to support the country’s critical economy and the challenges Venezuelans are facing due to their inability to renew expired passports.
